Review by Nicole Wright, Monaco private banker by day - restaurant sleuth by night. Blink and you will miss it. Tucked away between a florists and piano shop, La Sapore, just behind Place Garibaldi, is easy to overlook. For six months I did just that until one day curiosity got the better of me and peering through the window I wondered why on earth when I’m constantly looking for good new places to eat I had never been inside.I have now been with family, and with friends (I am still waiting for the romantic tete-a-tete), and each time I am surprised and delighted by the diversity of the menu, the moreishness of the freshly baked bread and the twinkle in the waiter’s eye.The principle is simple, you are invited to savour a five course menu of small but perfectly formed tapas dishes, each one a unique blend of French and Spanish flavours and colours, ending in my favourite part, the grand taste finale of a fantastic two course dessert.I would advise anyone going for the first time to stick to the set menu as although there are another five other interchangeable options, including vegetarian dishes, this young and talented chef (ex Negresco.) is always spot on with his mix of savours and textures. With only one sitting you are not made to feel rushed and the atmosphere with its low lighting and carefully limited umber of places makes it an intimate yet relaxed dining experience and one that you must book in advance. For a grand total of E28 (not including wine from the carefully selected list) you would be hard pressed to find a better eating alternative.Address:19 rue Bonaparte, Place du Pin, Nice - 06000Phone:04 92 04 22 09CASH ONLY - Not open Sundays and MondaysCredit Cards and cheques not accepted.

One to add to the list for the next visit to Nice then. Thanks Nicole. Maybe all the Totally team and their army of bloggers and friends should think about putting out an annual food guide?
