Romance in the Old Town

Romance in the Old Town

Le Tire Bouchon - review by Kari Clouston

Located on rue de la Prefecture, the Old Town’s designated posh road, you can discover one of the areas most recommended restaurant - Le Tire Bouchon. Perfectly positioned with the glamorous Palais du Justice, 30 seconds to the left and Caprioglio’s family run ‘cave a vin’ 20 seconds to the right.

This is a charming and romantic restaurant with numerous five-star customer reviews. Being welcomed with a warming bordeaux-red decor makes you feel right at ease whilst your appetite rockets high by catching the pleasant whiffs of rich spices and sounds of sizzling coming from the decade old kitchen.

The menu is typically high-class French with a delicious range of red & white meats mixed with exquisitely cooked vegetables, for example, duck pate with figs and red onion marmalade. The three course menu at €32 is fairly priced considering the standard of cuisine and choice available. Click here to check out what is currently being served.

Overall, however, Le Tire Bouchon, may have been a little too over hyped. From personal experience, I must admit I wasn’t exactly bowled over with ecstasy, but did have a relaxing, romantic candlelit meal. The food was beautifully presented and tasty, however, the service was a little stiff at first but did thankfully lighten up near the end of the meal. If you are looking to take your partner out, spoiling them with fine French foods and savvy wines, all in a softly lite atmosphere then Le Tire Bouchon is pretty much spot on.
