Colmiane Forest Adventure - review by Kari Clouston
If during the busy hot summers or cool spring, you’ve had enough of the wall-to-wall people on the beaches and you’ve little money left after all the excessive shopping then I recommend you keep €16.30 aside for some forest adventures north of Nice! For this economical total you can tackle various obstacle courses, depending on your level of daringness, set high up amongst the top branches of the forest.
Make a day of it. Simply start off by packing a picnic and putting on some stretchy casual clothing. If you’re in Nice with no car (smart move), then head straight to the city’s bus station and jump onto the regional bus 746 (€1.30). This service will whisk you up into the picturesque mountain landscape up behind Nice.
After one and a half hours of ear-popping mountain roads, a little further than St-Martin Vesubie village, you’ll be dropped off at the Colmiane ski resort which during the warmer season still turns over a decent profit from other outdoor activities such as hopping on to a high speed sledge, attached to a monorail track thankfully, and zooming down like an amusement park’s rollercoaster for five minutes. From the bus stop, you’ll find the forest adventure park opposite just by the mini golf. Once swinging from branch to branch, it’s up to you to prove how closely related we are to apes.
