Cooling off in Summer in the Languedoc, France

Posted by Allison Amour, Beziers, France

Summer is definitely here, days are starting to get really hot, don’t ask me how hot, and as I don’t want to know what is happening above 30 º C. So, last week-end I was not keen on roasting myself on the beach like a rotisserie chicken, fair skin, not a good idea. So I went down to the Orb river near Reals near Murviel-les-Beziers, just north-west of Beziers. Read More »

Client from Leeds loves Totally Riviera

“I think it is quite a tricky thing to buy a property in another country, even if you have come on holiday regularly to France and if you speak the language but there is always a horrible doubt that you might be ripped off as you don’t really know the system. Read More »

Financing your property in France - what mortgage to get

Totally Property Group Financial Advice - What Mortgage can I get?

Finding a mortgage in France to suit your needs is a fairly straightforward process. Mortgage lenders such as HBSC, UCB (formerly Abbey National) and Barclays, plus a host of other French banks, offer flexible loans of up to 85% of the property value, often for up to 25 or 30 years. In addition, banks in France can often lend for renovation work on the property.

We also have links with mortgage brokers who can advise and help in the selection of banks and mortgages and offer a ‘hand holding’ service through the process.

The European wide Spectrum IFA Group is financial services company who have assisted many Totally Property Group clients over the last 5 years.

Don’t loose sight of your dream property purchase because of exchange rates and market confidence

Totally Riviera speaks to Peter Brooke a financial Consultant with Spectrum-IFA. He explains how to buy your property and not be stung by exchange rates and the credit crisis

It may appear nothing short of madness at the moment to be investing in foreign property. Interest rates are up, and sterling is weak compared to the euro. All these things put together are having an impact on the confidence of many buyers.

But the reality now is that there may be no better time to buy in the South of France, and many investors are missing out on some great deals because they don’t fully understand the investment and finance options available to them.

Happy client from the other side of the world

Words by Professor Charles Mulvey from Perth Western Australia. Everyone told me I must be mad. I bought an apartment in Nice off the internet – I didn’t even see until after it had been renovated and furnished. Nobody who’s been there thinks I mad now – they all think that it was a great purchase and that I’ve done very well.

So why did I do it ? Its pretty simple really, I totally trusted Dennis once I had spoken to him a couple of times on the phone. He sent me photographs, videos and detailed descriptions of the apartment prior to my purchasing it and I felt that I knew the place inside out before I committed to making an offer.

Totally Riviera meets Joel Robuchon - What a meal!

Review by Dennis Broadfield - visited 20th of May 2008

The generosity of some of Totally Riviera’s clients can be quite astounding at times. A last minute invitation to the eponymous Joel Robuchon restaurant at the Hotel Metropole in Monaco was always going to be an adventure and a serious treat - and a very generous thank you from a client.

Metropole Hotel Monaco

Joel Robuchon is a one-man industry in the French restaurant business where he built his name gathering Michelin stars like confetti at a wedding. He now owns restaurants in Paris, Monaco, London, Hong Kong, Las Vegas and Tokyo. Many of them have Michelin stars - in fact across his restaurant empire he has collected 17 stars, the most of any chef in the world.

Raymond Blanc: my love affair with Provence

Article by Raymond Blanc published in the Times Newspaper 24th of May, 2008

WEARING a pink bib, and with the crashing noise of the waves below me on one of the most beautiful coastlines in France, I’m enjoying the best bouillabaisse I’ve ever had.

I’m not in Marseilles, where the typical fish platter is often made for the tourists, but in Nice, at the Coco Beach restaurant. Here, the owner, Pierre Quirino, serves me six types of rock fish poached in a heady saffron stock in a dish with a wonderful layering of flavour, starting with the sweetened onion; then fennel for a liquorice element; garlic, of course; tomatoes for acidity, sweetness and colour; and with chilli pepper and bouquet garni building it all up.

There is also an extraordinarily good aoli, containing barrel loads of garlic, which I wash down with a good Château Belen that I’d like to get hold of at the Manoir, but I can’t because they don’t export it.I found this place five years ago, when I came to Nice with my son, Olivier, and, wanting to avoid the tourist haunts, we asked local fishmongers to recommend somewhere. It is one of the reasons I love this region, where some of the gastronomy is as worthy as any Michelin-star experience.
